In this edition, to be held in the hot and border city of Mexicali, Mexico, with the participation of the Charros de Jalisco as the home team, in the home of Aguila de Mexicali, the Nido de las Aguilas.
This edition will be made up of the traditional countries: Mexico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, as well as a stellar guest, Japan. This year we will not have participation from other guests from previous years such as: Colombia, Curacao, Panama or Cuba
The prize for the Caribbean Series champions
The issue of prize money for the winners does not have a fixed figure, but is announced once the event is over, so for this edition we only have an estimate of what last year’s champions, Venezuela’s Tiburones de la Guaira, received, led by former Major League Baseball player Oswaldo Guillen.
The previous edition also recognized the teams that made the podium in the previous edition, Dominican Republic as runner-up and Panama as third place
In total, last year’s winners received a total prize pool of $284 million dollars that was shared only among the players registered for the tournament
According to the Listin Diario of the Dominican Republic, the prize was distributed as follows:
- Tiburones de Venezuela: $144 million
- Tigres del Licey of the Dominican Republic: $90 million
- Panama Federals: $50 million
The World Series rules stipulated that the money should be distributed only among the players who were active on the roster, that is, it did not include members of the staff or the team of managers, a measure that has been considered by some experts as unfair, since they are also members of the team and collaborate in the victory.
The report indicates that the 2024 Series was a resounding success, attracting some 340,000 fans during the 25 games that were played at loanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball.
