Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez confirmed himself as the undisputed middleweight champion after winning by unanimous decision over Cuba’s William Scull in a fight that for many fans, left much to be desired and was quite boring mainly because of the defensive and evasive attitude that the Cuban presented during almost the entire fight.
After taking away Scull’s unbeaten record and crowning himself as the undisputed middleweight champion, he will now put all his belts on the line against Terence Crawford, with the fight being confirmed just after the Mexican was announced as the winner, and is scheduled for September 12.
How will Canelo celebrate his victory over Scull?
The evening in Riyadh took place at a rather unusual time for the locals, as the fight ended shortly after dawn in Saudi Arabia, being around 7 AM local time when the fight between Canelo and Scull was over, so there are many sleepless people.
Right after the fight, the Mexican spoke to DAZN about how he will celebrate his victory and undisputed consecration, saying that he will simply go to breakfast with his family and friends, as well as leaving a message to Scull and his strategy to face him.
We’re going to go out for breakfast, first of all, to celebrate with my friends, with my family and I’m happy. Obviously, we wanted to have a different kind of fight, but it takes two to have a good fight.
When is Canelo Alvarez’s next fight?
Minutes after being proclaimed the winner, the Mexican champion, Sheikh, minister and Arab promoter Turki Alalshikh officially announced that Saul Canelo Alvarez’s next fight will be against Britain’s Terence Crawford on September 12 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, as part of Mexico’s Independence Day celebrations.
Now, Canelo will put his middleweight title on the line against Crawford, as he is now the holder of the WBA, WBO, WBC and now once again the IBF belts, with Crawford looking to knock the Mexican off his pedestal.
