Mexican fighter Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, super middleweight champion by the World Boxing Council (WBC), the Association (WBA) and the Organization (WBO), said that Cuban William Scull, “the only thing he will eat this Saturday” during the fight in Saudi Arabia, will be his right fist.

“The only thing he will eat on Saturday will be my right fist,” said the Mexican during a press conference ahead of the fight at the ANB Arena in Riyadh.Scull, who turns 33 on June 6, is the International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion.

Canelo responded to what the Matanzas native said, who days ago, when describing his enthusiasm for his new challenge, said that he will go out to eat the Mexican.

The 34-year-old Mexican lost the IBF belt in 2024 for refusing to fight the Cuban and preferring Edgar Berlanga.Faced with the Mexican’s refusal, Scull fought for the title against Russian Vladimir Shishkin, whom he defeated by unanimous decision of the judges after 12 rounds.

The Mexican expressed that he intends to offer a different version this Saturday. “I’m getting ready to make history,” he added. Saturday’s fight will be the Mexican’s first outside North America and the first of a lucrative four-fight deal signed with a Saudi Arabian promotional company.

“Everybody talks trash before the fight, but when they get in the ring with me, it’s something different. He’s going to feel something different, that’s for sure. For me it’s no different, but for him it is, and he’s going to feel it, believe me,” Alvarez added.

Scull compared his story to the way he approaches his fights.“I fled Cuba, crossed borders and now I’m here to win. I don’t care what the press says about me. I will fight calmly and with strategy,” he said.

‘Canelo’ goes into Saturday’s fight with 62 wins, 39 by knockout, two draws and two defeats. Scull is unbeaten in 23 fights, nine of them inside the distance.
