Cam Ward, the Tennessee Titans player and No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft, has been the victim of an identity theft scam. Two people with fake profiles allegedly fraudulently obtained loans from the player worth $250,000.
Albert Weber and Cyntrelle Lash face charges of identity theft, bank fraud and forgery after being arrested in a case in which the victims include Cam Ward, his father and the company that lent the money in question.Ward’s four-year contract with the Titans is worth approximately $48.7 million. This type of fraud on professional athletes has increased due to the increase in their income from both sponsorships and salaries in the various teams, according to a 2021 report by global accounting and consulting firm EY.
“My message is to be as vigilant as possible with your finances,” Calvin Ward said. “There are scammers and con artists out there, and they’re always trying to come up with some scheme.”
