Individually, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are filling arenas; together, they’re leading the WNBA into a brand-new era. Since stepping onto the professional court, Clark and Reese have helped revolutionize women’s basketball. But it seems Chi-Barbie might be over her rivalry with Caitlin – and has her sights set on a new rival: Paige Bueckers.

The clash between Clark and Reese has long divided WNBA fans into two passionate camps, especially since both were selected in the first round of the 2024 Draft. Although recent injuries have prevented the two from facing off this season, fan obsession with their storied matchup hasn’t faded one bit.

Meanwhile, Bueckers is turning heads as the rookie sensation of the Dallas Wings. Despite her team’s rough 7-19 record, that hasn’t stopped Reese from zeroing in on her next potential rivalry.

Reese’s message to Bueckers

In a recent FanDuel survey, several WNBA players were asked which opponent they most wanted to beat. Courtney Williams named Alyssa Thomas, who pointed to Dijonai Carrington. Rookie Sonia Citron kept things diplomatic, saying any win was satisfying, regardless of the opponent.

But it was Reese who caught everyone off guard, answering: “Probably Paige [Bueckers], because she talks a lot of trash and we’ve known each other for a long time.”

This isn’t the first time Angel has brought up her history with Paige. Before the All-Star Game, she recalled, “We were the No. 1 and No. 2 players in our high school class.”

At that time, Reese also shared, “It’s good to finally be able to play together instead of playing against each other,” referring to their appearance on Team Collier. But that brief moment of camaraderie seems to have fizzled out – and Reese’s signature competitive fire is back in full force.

Sky vs. Wings: No Contest

Reese’s desire to take down Bueckers might seem a little excessive, considering the Sky have dominated the Wings this season, winning all three matchups. Unfortunately for fans, that means Reese and Bueckers won’t face off again until the 2026 season.

On the other hand, the Clark-Reese rivalry still has unfinished business. The Fever have already notched two wins over the Sky, including this Sunday’s matchup, and the teams will meet again on August 9 and September 5.

That’s why many fans are begging Chi-Barbie to focus on settling the score with Caitlin before starting a new WNBA feud. Because let’s be honest – this league isn’t big enough for two headline-making rivalries. Or is it?
