Philadelphia Eagles rookie Cooper DeJean is still soaking in the glory of his Super Bowl LIX victory, but it’s a message from an unexpected source that has fans buzzing.

After delivering a game-changing interception in the Eagles’ dominant 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, DeJean received a heartfelt congratulations from none other than Iowa basketball superstar Caitlin Clark-despite her well-known allegiance to the Chiefs!

Speaking on The Pivot Podcast, DeJean revealed the details of Clark’s message, which he first mentioned on Up & Adams.

“Since we both went to Iowa, I think she was just showing some love, telling me she was proud and congratulating me,” DeJean shared. “Not just for scoring a touchdown, but for winning the biggest game in football as a rookie.”

Clark is passionate about the Chiefs

Clark, who had previously declared her Chiefs fandom on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, still put team loyalty aside to recognize DeJean’s incredible moment.

“I appreciate her for sending that message, even though she’s a Chiefs fan,” DeJean added with a grin.

The rookie cornerback made history in the second quarter when he capitalized on a rare mistake by Patrick Mahomes, intercepting the ball and returning it 38 yards for a touchdown. The play extended the Eagles’ lead before halftime and swung momentum firmly in Philadelphia’s favor, ultimately helping to deny the Chiefs their elusive three-peat.

While Kansas City fans may still be reeling from the loss, the Iowa connection between DeJean and Clark remains strong. Both athletes are carving out legendary careers in their respective sports, proving that Hawkeye pride runs deep-even when rooting interests don’t always align!
