Caitlin Clark‘s boyfriend, Connor McCaffrey, is carving his own path in the basketball world and he recently took up a college coaching role at Butler after leaving the NBA sidelines.

Despite the progress that he is making, his father, Fran McCaffrey, is not going to follow in the same footsteps.

Fran is currently the coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes, and it seems that he is going to stay exactly where he is and keep working at it.

David Eickholt, Iowa Hawkeye Insider for 247Sports on Tuesday reported that the senior McCaffery had no intentions of moving on from his post of 15 years. “Fran McCaffery when asked about his future: ‘I’m fully committed to the program and the players. I have no intention of moving on,” he tweeted.

A tough gig in Iowa

Fran McCaffery‘s side has only won the Big 10 Tournament Trophy once since he took the reins, which has resulted in a lot of doubts over his ability to lead the team this season.

It is clear that the pressure is getting to McCaffery, as a recent victory over Rutgers on the road led him to get emotional at the end.

Fran was interviewed by Andy Katz after the victory and when asked about the importance of it, McCaffery paused and sighed before saying: “You know, there’s times in your career where you’re just really proud of your team. The way we fought was really impressive.”

Katz noticed the raw emotion in his voice and pressed further: “You’re getting emotional. Tell me what is making you so emotional right now?”

McCaffery then explained: “You know, we’ve had injuries, we’ve had some setbacks. So do other teams, Andy. I mean, you know that. Other teams have it. But it’s how you respond. How do you respond in practice? How do you respond in meetings? Do you try to carry out the game plan? Do you stay together? Do you stay focused? And at the end of the day, that’s all we can ever ask.”
