In 2025, the expectations for Caitlin Clark are likely to be even higher than before. Clark just turned 23, and her resume is already astounding for the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year. She had a stellar debut season, averaging 20 points, leading the league with 8.4 assists and adding 6 rebounds per game. She broke multiple records, including the single-season assists record (337), and led the Indiana Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2016. The team also posted its highest win total (20) since 2015.

Most sportsbooks have the Fever as the fifth favorite to win the championship next season, behind the Liberty, Aces, Lynx and Sun. Clark herself is the second favorite to win the MVP award, right behind 3-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson. Much of this optimism is due to the hiring of Stephanie White as head coach of the Fever. White previously led the Fever to the 2015 Finals, where they narrowly lost to the Minnesota Lynx in a 3-2 series.

Clark Celebrates Her Birthday Training

After spending the weekend in Taylor Swift’s suite for the Chiefs’ win, Clark celebrated her 23rd birthday practicing at the Fever’s facility. By 2027, the Fever will practice in a $78 million state-of-the-art performance center. During her practice, Clark shot 50-of-54 from three-point range (90.90%), showing that she remains focused on surpassing last season’s success. Although she’s not part of the new Unrivaled League, which features 36 WNBA players, Clark is determined to take the Fever even further this year. The Fever’s 2024 season ended in the playoffs against the Connecticut Sun, Stephanie White’s team last season.

I’m confident that Clark will have an even better season in almost every category, finishing again as the assists leader and a also as a top 5 scorer. She has raised the global profile of women’s basketball and helped the WNBA achieve record-breaking television ratings, merchandise sales and sellout crowds. Among her rookie peers, Clark dominated every major statistical category, including points, assists, three-pointers, field goals and steals. She made history by becoming the first rookie to record a triple-double, a feat she accomplished twice.

Among Her Most Notable Accolades This Year Are:

  • Time Magazine Athlete of the Year (second female athlete in history)
  • AP Female Athlete of the Year (fourth women’s basketball player)
  • NCAA Division I All-Time Scoring Leader (men’s and women’s)
