Caitlin Clark and NBA player Jalen Green recently met in the tunnel after the game, and fans quickly picked up on something that made the exchange well a little awkward for a moment, with an ending everyone saw coming.
Clark, currently sidelined with an injury, was in street clothes not suited up. Still, after the game, Jalen Green came over, clearly excited to meet her. With a smile, Clark casually asked, “Where were you guys sitting?” And that’s when the moment took a bit of a turn.
Jalen wanted the photo… even if he hadn’t watched the game
Fans immediately picked up on the irony because if you’ve been following Caitlin Clark lately, you’d know she hasn’t played in recent games due to her injury. It wasn’t malicious, but the comment gave off the classic “I’m a fan… kind of” vibe, and people online didn’t miss a beat.
It’s pretty clear that Green doesn’t follow Clark too closely he didn’t seem to know she was out with an injury and wouldn’t be playing. Still, he definitely wanted his photo with the WNBA star and made sure to say hello in person.
Even though his words gave him away as someone who isn’t exactly a die-hard fan, Jalen still asked for a photo with Caitlin just like any other admirer of the WNBA would.
“I was sitting on the other side,” Green replied. “I had to get a picture with you. I thought you were playing today.”
To her credit, Caitlin handled it with grace, laughing it off and taking the photo with ease. That’s part of what makes her so likable: even in awkward moments, she rolls with it like a pro. And let’s be honest, if you had the chance to meet Caitlin Clark, would you really risk missing it even if you hadn’t followed every game?
