Over the past few years, there has been an incredible influx of talent into the WNBA. The last two No. 1 overall picks, Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers, came into the league with tons of fanfare due to historic college careers. But even before them, players like Breanna Sewart and A’ja Wilson have left an indelible mark on the league.

Those two continue to dominate, nearly alternating WNBA MVP awards every year. Clark and Angel Reese‘s draft class was one that brought many extra eyeballs to the league, and it has only been amplified with Bueckers. The youth movement has fans looking ahead to 2026 and beyond to see who can challenge Wilson, Stewart, Clark, Bueckers and more.

The 2026 WNBA Draft is set to feature stars like Lauren Betts, Azzi Fudd and Olivia Miles. There are other impressive players, but there’s one college basketball star who is set to take the league by storm in 2027: Hannah Hidalgo.

She only got better as a sophomore, and it has led to Notre Dame teammate KK Bransford being taken aback by just how good Hidalgo is ahead of her junior year.

Hidalgo is only a junior, so she won’t be eligible to enter the WNBA until 2027. Although it’s a long wait, it will give her time to iron out whatever kinks are in her game. As of right now, they are very hard to find.
