Comedian Bruce Vilanch has stressed that he is not actually Travis and Jason Kelce‘s mother, despite people mistaking him for Donna Kelce.
The 76-year-old appeared on the TV show ‘The View’ and discussed the fact that many people have mistaken him for Donna in the past and he felt he needed to set the record straight.
“I would just like to say for you football fans out there, I am not Travis Kelce‘s mother,” Vilanch said as the audience erupted in laughter. “The resemblance is alarming, I will give you.”
The Kelce’s and their whole family have grown in prominence over the past year or so thanks to Travis’ relationship with Taylor Swift.
“People call me and say, ‘Dude, [are you] at the Super Bowl? What are you doing in a box with Taylor?'” Vilanch joked.
“And I looked and I thought, ‘Yeah, we are each other’s doppelgänger,'” he said, gesturing a phone to his ear. “So, Donna, [call me].”
An ongoing joke
This is not the first time that Vilanch has played into the joke. He was recently interviewed by The Daily Telegraph and he joined the Zoom call for the interview with his name set as ‘Travis Kelce’s Mother’.
“I want them to stay together because I want to ride this joke for a while,” he told the publication in an interview published Sunday.
Whilst Travis Kelce will surely be amused by the fact a comedian looks so much like his mother, his focus right now is on deciding whether he will be staying with the Kansas City Chiefs, or calling time on his career in NFL.
The most likely outcome is that he will stay for one more year, but a retirement is still on the cards and fans are watching on nervously.
