While Brock Purdy celebrates a five-year, $265 million contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, his family is facing challenges in keeping their long-standing business afloat. Shawn Purdy, the star quarterback’s father, recently turned to social media in a heartfelt bid to attract more customers.

Purdy’s NFL career reads like a Hollywood script. After being the last pick in the 2022 Draft and spending most of his rookie season injured, he defied expectations, shedding the nickname “Mr. Irrelevant” to lead the 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII.

Although the Niners fell short against Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs, Purdy secured his place among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks. However, his meteoric rise on the field hasn’t translated into the same success for his family, who appear to be navigating a difficult financial period.

Trouble with the family business?

Fantastic Spa Outlet, the store owned by Shawn and Carrie Purdy, has been a staple at the Mesa Marketplace Swap Meet for the past 30 years. Located in Hall B of the shopping center, the store offers a wide selection of hot tubs and spas to fit various preferences and budgets.

Possibly affected by the economic downturn impacting businesses nationwide, Shawn recently took to social media in search of new customers, sharing an earnest message:

“Hi everyone, we are Shawn and Carrie Purdy, and we are longtime business owners in the spa industry here in Arizona,” Purdy Sr. wrote.

He followed with a passionate appeal to local shoppers:

“Please come see us at the Mesa Marketplace, where we’ve been for 28 years! We provide a ‘Purdy’ spa buying experience that you’ll enjoy for a lifetime,” Shawn concluded, emphasizing that purchasing from Fantastic Spa Outlet is not just a transaction-it’s an experience.

A family united-Through business and football

Despite the economic struggles, the Purdy family remains as tightly knit as ever. Even with business hours running Monday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., it’s not uncommon to find a sign on their store door on Sundays that reads: “Sorry, we went home to watch a football game.”

For the 49ers star, this is a clear sign that, no matter the challenges, his family stands firmly behind him. While Shawn’s recent post may have been a strategic publicity effort, there’s hope that Fantastic Spa Outlet will continue operating for years to come-providing not just financial stability but also personal and professional fulfillment.
