Braxton Berrios found himself back in the spotlight this week, not for his work on the field with the Houston Texans, but for a cryptic Instagram caption that coincided with news of his breakup with influencer Alix Earle.

The 30-year-old return specialist posted photos of himself on Thursday, casually writing, “What did I miss?”, a comment that immediately sent fans into speculation mode.

The timing of the post raised eyebrows, but Braxton Berrios quickly pushed back on suggestions that the caption was meant to be a dig.

When one follower asked, “Is this shady Braxton I hope not,” he simply replied that it “was absolutely not supposed to be.”

He even pinned a fan’s comment that clarified the reference: “People don’t get your caption referring to the Drake song.” Rapper Drake indeed has a track titled What Did I Miss?

As the breakup story circulated, fans also revisited earlier criticism that Braxton Berrios had skipped certain Dancing With the Stars tapings to support Alix Earle.

In a follow-up comment, he addressed the chatter directly, saying, “Sadly I wasn’t able to travel like that in-season.”

Alix Earle, who finished second on the dancing competition alongside partner Valentin “Val” Chmerkovskiy on Nov. 25, had reportedly ended her two-year relationship with Berrios shortly before the finale.

The couple, whose relationship often required navigating long-distance schedules, is said to have mutually agreed to part ways.

Earle pushes back against rumors as breakup goes public

While Berrios was hinting at normalcy on Instagram, Alix Earle was spotted enjoying Art Basel festivities in Miami when news of the split surfaced.

Posting a carousel of photos and videos from the weekend, she addressed the sudden interest in her nightlife with a simple caption: “Can’t a girl just go dancing.”

Speculation didn’t end there. Fans began circulating claims that Jaxson Dart, the quarterback for the New York Giants, had messaged Earle following the breakup, rumors she firmly dismissed.

Dart, meanwhile, has been recently linked to model Marissa Ayers, who was seen on the sideline with his family during the Giants’ Dec. 1 loss to the New England Patriots.

Earlier in the week, Earle hinted at emotional strain in a TikTok post that many interpreted as breakup-related. Reflecting on her upcoming 25th birthday, she wrote, “Is my frontal lobe developing bc im about to turn 25 [on Dec. 16] and usually I stress about having the biggest party but all i want to do it workout, meditate, play card games & have good convos w the ppl closest to me. Either I’m maturing or just rlly going thru it.. maybe both.”

Braxton Berrios and Alix Earle made their relationship public at the 2023 ESPY Awards after his split from model Sophia Culpo.

Since then, they had become one of social media’s most visible sports-entertainment couples, making their quiet, mutual breakup all the more notable.
