The Dallas Cowboys are facing a major contract decision with star linebacker Micah Parsons, and their slow-moving negotiations have once again sparked trade speculation.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in no rush to finalize a deal, some analysts are beginning to wonder if the team will entertain trade offers instead.
This hesitation has led to a league-altering trade proposal gaining traction, with K.D. Drummond of Cowboys Wire suggesting that the New England Patriots could make a bold move to acquire Parsons.
The proposal would see the Patriots send a haul of draft picks, including the No. 4 overall pick in 2025, along with additional selections in 2026 and 2027, in exchange for the All-Pro linebacker.
In this scenario, the Cowboys would turn to Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter as Parsons’ potential replacement.
Parsons has been eligible for an extension since last year, yet the Cowboys have taken a similar approach to past negotiations with stars like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, waiting until the market resets before finalizing their own deals.
This delay has only strengthened speculation that a trade could be on the table, especially with the recent contract extension of Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, who became the highest-paid defensive player in the league.
Given that Parsons is four years younger than Garrett, he’s expected to surpass that deal with a massive payday.
The Patriots, under new head coach Mike Vrabel, have been aggressive in reshaping their defense this offseason, adding key pieces like Milton Williams, Harold Landry, and Carlton Davis III.
Acquiring Parsons would accelerate New England’s rebuild and immediately elevate their defense to one of the league’s best.
Meanwhile, Dallas would gain valuable draft capital but would face the difficult challenge of replacing one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive playmakers.

The four-time Pro Bowler has already established himself as a game-changer with 52.5 career sacks and nine forced fumbles in just 63 games.
