The weekend of boxing under the banner of ‘Fatal Fury‘ was characterised by quite the opposite, as most of the main fights in New York and Riyadh were criticised for being boring.

From Friday with the triumph of Devin Haney over Jose Ramirez and the defeat of Ryan Garcia against Rolly Romero, to Saturday, with the triumph of Jaime Munguia in the rematch over Bruno Surace, and culminating with the fight ofSaul Alvarez against William Scull, which seemed more like a race in the ring, and that Canelo won by decision because he was the one who tried to connect punches, since the Cuban came out determined not to be knocked out.

Faced with these disappointing performances, Bill Haney, Devin’s father, came to his son’s defense through his X account and used CompuBox statistics in which he tried to free him from the accusations of having offered a boring fight, with a comparison to what Canelo did a day later.

“The playing field is not level… Devin Haney landed 70 punches against Jose Ramirez and was criticised for being boring,” Bill Haney posted, before moving on to the point of comparison with what the Mexican champion did: “Canelo Alvarez landed 56 against William Scull, the lowest combined punch total in CompuBox history, described as strategic and calculated. WTF.”

Bill Haney boasts that his son put Ramirez in an ambulance

Bill Haney continued his defense on his X account, posting images of Jose Ramirez being attended to after the fight against his son Devin, and reproached the criticism of experts Dan Rafael and Tim Bradley

“Dan Rafael and Tim Bradley said the fight was boring, but after 12 rounds with Devin Haney, Jose Ramirez ended up in the back of an ambulance, while Devin was sitting ringside, laughing and ready for the next challenge,” Bill Haney said on X.
