The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday, September 22, at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, where the best footballers, coaches and clubs of the 2024/25 season will be honored.

In the race for the prestigious golden trophy are players such as Mbappe and Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid, and Lamine Yamal and Raphinha of Barcelona. However, on this occasion it seems that the big favorite is Ousmane Dembele, after having managed to win a treble with PSG, including the Champions League, a historic achievement for the Parisian club which could be decisive in favor of the Frenchman.

What is the Ballon d’Or and how is it chosen?

The Ballon d’Or is the most prestigious individual award in football, presented by France Football since 1956. It is awarded based on three main criteria:

  • Individual performance and decisive character.
  • Club or national team achievements.
  • Fair play on and off the field.

The jury is made up of specialist journalists from around the world: 100 representatives in the case of the men’s award and 50 in the women’s.
