The story of the Los Angeles Lakers current season so far has been the emergence of Austin Reaves. Sure, Luka Doncic has gone supernova in LeBron James‘ absence, but Reaves turning into an offensive star is huge for JJ Redick‘s team.

Reaves’ ascendence has come at a perfect time, as the Lakers continue to deal with injuries outside of just LeBron. In fact, being shorthanded led to a big moment for Bronny James, who started in the team’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night. It was only his second-ever start in the NBA. Reaves made sure to call that anomaly out following the game.

Bronny James plays 10 minutes in second-ever NBA start

Reaves went full sarcasm mode in the postgame media session, taking a dig at LeBron for playing in the G League while his son is starting an NBA game. Reaves couldn’t help but find the role reversal humorous.

Unfortunately, Bronny didn’t have the best of nights in his second career start. He only played 10 minutes, failing to register a point but contributing a rebound, assist and steal in his short spell. Dalton Knecht ended up playing 34 minutes, and Redick’s plan worked out, as the Lakers won by 24 points on the road.

With James getting back to competitive basketball activities, his return for the Lakers is nearing. It’s believed he may be able to play in the Lakers’ home game against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
