The soccer player was arrested at the airport after making a bomb threat before take-off of the plane that would take the team to Buenos Aires. The incident occurred when the squad was preparing to travel and play its match against Agropecuario in the ninth round of the Primera Nacional, the second division of Argentine soccer.
A moment that changed everything before takeoff
Following the threat, the airport security protocol was immediately activated. The procedure included the intervention of the specialized explosives group, which carried out a complete inspection of the aircraft and the facilities. The result was negative: no device was found.
However, the situation forced operations to be temporarily suspended, causing chaos and uncertainty and affecting numerous families in their itineraries, as well as the logistics of the match.
The soccer player arrested is Emiliano Endrizzi, a defender for Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy, who was due to travel to play a key match in their sporting schedule. The team competes in the Primera Nacional and is still fighting for places in the playoffs for promotion, so each match is important in the season.
The disruption to the trip cast doubt on the availability of the players and created uncertainty over the immediate schedule.
The 32 year old left-back has been with the team since 2023. During his time with the club, he has established himself as a starter and an important part of the defensive structure, which means that his situation also has a wider sporting impact.
Although the case is still ongoing, this type of situation is usually treated seriously by the authorities. In Argentina, a bomb threat can lead to criminal charges for public intimidation, possible economic sanctions and/or legal restrictions, depending on the progress of the investigation.
