After Canelo Alvarez’s victory over William Scull in a fight that did not dazzle the fans as promised, the announcement that came afterwards shone brighter than the fight itself.

Canelo already knows where and who his next opponent is. Terence Crawford will face the Aztec on September 12 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. In addition, the president of the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh confirmed that this fight will have a new promoter, which is none other than Dana White.

This event will be the first of the TKO Boxing conglomerate -which emerged from the union of WWE and UFC- and White and Canelo stand to earn a large sum of money.

Alvarez had already mentioned that “if the money was right” he would fight Crawford during his press conference last year as he prepared to fight Edgar Berlanga. There, a journalist threw a figure of approximately $100 million at him, but Canelo did not hesitate to raise it: “$150 million” , he said.

Thus, he made clear the price he is demanding to face the American and today, with the fight already underway, investors are making it clear what they are willing to pay to offer an event of such magnitude.

This news was celebrated by former UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who posted a video on YouTube talking about it: “I do believe that added element, that Dana’s going to be promoting, that Riyadh season is going to be promoting, is going to make more people tap into what’s going on in this big fight. They’re going to sell out Allegiant Stadium,” he said optimistically and confirmed that he will be in the audience.

That’s how the fighters would arrive

Alvarez comes from defeating William Scull by unanimous decision (115-113, 116-112 and 119-109) and has been proclaimed undisputed super middleweight champion for the second time in his career. Canelo also has a record of 63 wins, two draws and two losses in 67 fights.

Crawford, meanwhile, last fought in August 2024 when he defeated Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision to extend his perfect professional record to 41-0.
