Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is one of the brightest stars in the NBA. His game has elevated his team to be one of the best squads in the Western Conference in recent years.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft set the Timberwolves single-season franchise record for three-point makes this Sunday, passing the previous record of 240 (Malik Beasley 2021-22).

In his fifth season, Edwards has totaled 10 30+ point games with at least five made threes, tied for the most such games in the NBA this season and already the most such games in a single season in Timberwolves franchise history.

Edwards destroys Durant

Anthony Edwards has mentioned publicly that he considers Kevin Durant to be the greatest basketball player of all time. He has a point: Durant is one of the most prolific shooters of all time, with a size and skills that’s lethal for the opponent. He can score from the outside, the inside, mid-range, pretty much anywhere on the court.

So when Durant’s Phoenix Suns faced Edwards’ Timberwolves during the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs, a lot of people got excited for the matchup that was gonna be put on display, with the veteran shooter and the young superstar going at it for a chance to advance to the next round.

However, Phoenix came up empty and was swept by a more dynamic Minnesota team that was hungry for victory. Even though the Suns had a lineup that included supestar Devin Booker and prolific scorer Bradley Beal, they couldn’t prevent the sweep.

Durant displayed his usual talent and was scoring at will, but it was not enough to help his team win. Ant was really impressed with the way Kevin scored against them, as he revealed on a video posted by Uninterrupted. “This motherf***** hit like seven straight shots in a row. Like a trey ball, mid-range, lay up, trey ball, so I’m starting to see that Kevin Durant is real. I turned into a fan, honestly.” the young NBA player said.

Ant showed his killer instincts

However, Edwards was not goint to let his team get beat by his idol. “And then he (Durant) start guarding me. I’m like, ‘KD, come on, KD. Like, you ain’t no defensive player’. But he took the challenge and guarded me and I was happy because I love to take the challenge and guard somebody’s best player. “

Ant and the Timberwolves got the victory and Edwards took the opportunity to talk trash to Durant, who couldn’t helped but laugh at the fact that his fan beat him. The former MVP even talked to the media about it and showed his respect for the baller Edwards is.

“So impressed with Ant,” Durant said. “My favorite player to watch. Just grown so much since he came into the league. At 22, just his love for the game shines bright. That’s one of the reasons why I like him the most. He just loves basketball. He’s grateful to be in this position. He’s grateful to take advantage of every opportunity he’s gotten. Love everything about Ant. Everything.” he said to ESPN.
