The ongoing legal conflict between NBA star Anthony Edwards and his ex-partner, Ayesha Howard, has garnered significant attention due to its complexity and the personal dynamics involved.
Their daughter, Aubri Summer Howard, born in October 2024, has become the focal point of a contentious custody and child support dispute that spans multiple states and involves various legal maneuvers.
In December 2024, a DNA test confirmed Edwards as Aubri’s father, but the path to resolving custody and financial responsibilities has been anything but straightforward. Initially, Howard filed a paternity lawsuit in California, asserting that she had resided there for several months before Aubri’s birth.

“Throughout these proceedings, Mr. Edwards and his legal team have not only misrepresented his own connections but have also made false and damaging statements about me, in what appears to be an effort to discredit my character,” she said.
“One such claim was that I worked at Magic City in Atlanta until 2024. This is false. I have obtained documentation from the Atlanta Police Department showing that my last business license with that establishment expired in 2018 – seven years ago. I have been forthcoming in stating that I have not worked in Georgia for over a decade, and the evidence supports this statement.”
In February 2025, a California judge ruled in favor of Edwards, determining that the state lacked jurisdiction over child support matters. This decision shifted the legal proceedings to Georgia, where Edwards had filed his case. Despite this setback, Howard continued to assert her California residency, emphasizing that she and her daughter had established their lives there.
Allegations and evidence presented in court
Throughout the legal proceedings, Howard has presented various pieces of evidence to support her claims. One notable submission was an ovulation tracker, which she argued demonstrated the timing of her conception coincided with a game Edwards played in California in February 2024.
Additionally, she provided screenshots of alleged communications between them, including messages where Edwards reportedly suggested she terminate the pregnancy.
Edwards has denied these allegations, stating that he does not seek custody or visitation rights and that the primary issue is financial. His legal team has characterized Howard’s actions as an attempt to manipulate the legal system for financial gain, labeling her conduct as “unjustifiable”.
As of now, the legal battle remains unresolved, with hearings scheduled to address custody and visitation matters. Both parties continue to present their cases, and the outcome will likely have lasting implications for their relationship with their daughter and their respective futures.
