Angel Reese is having a stellar sophomore season in the WNBA, but this week, she faced more than just her on-court rivals. Former NFL player and current commentator Robert Griffin III sparked controversy with claims that lit up social media.

RGIII alleged that Reese harbors hatred toward Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever rookie sensation. He claimed that sources close to Reese told him she resents the media’s favoritism toward Clark.

“Angel’s inner circle called me and said I was right… that she’s grown to hate Caitlin Clark because the media always puts her in Clark’s shadow,” RGIII wrote.

He also suggested that a video Reese posted led to death threats and violence against his family. “I never attacked her, but I can’t stay silent about this,” he added.

Reese’s mother sets the record straight

Angel Reese’s mother was the first to shut down RGIII’s claims, making it clear that no one in her daughter’s trusted circle had spoken to him.

“My daughter’s circle is very tight. I’d love to know who called you, because that person isn’t authorized to speak for her,” she posted.

Then Angel herself, known for her bold and unfiltered style, broke her silence on social media:

“Lying on this app when everyone knows the full name of every person in my circle… disgusting work,” the Chicago Sky star posted on X.

With that, Reese made it clear she won’t tolerate false narratives about her or her relationships with fellow players.

Reese continues to dominate on the court

Despite the controversy, Angel Reese is letting her game do the talking. This week, she delivered another standout performance with a 22-point, 15-rebound double-double against the Washington Mystics-her sixth straight game with at least 15 rebounds.

A few days later, she shined again versus the Dallas Wings, putting up 15 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, and a block in just 29 minutes of play. Her stats prove that despite the media noise, Reese is laser-focused on her game.

Reese lets her game speak louder than the rumors

Speculation about tension between Reese and Clark has been ongoing since their college basketball days. But Reese has consistently let her performance do the talking.

One thing is clear: Angel isn’t afraid to defend her truth and protect her inner circle. And while some try to stir up rivalries, she’s busy writing her own WNBA legacy-one bucket and rebound at a time.
