The 2025 WNBA season could not have started any worse for the Chicago Sky. Getting blown out in the first game of the year was bad enough, but Angel Reese and co. had to watch as Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever team garnered praise at their expense. There was also an unsavory moment between Reese and Clark that surely won’t go over well with Reese’s critics.

Reese wasn’t efficient with her shooting and committed too many turnovers, but she was only one of two Sky players to reach double digit points in the game, alongside Ariel Atkins. It was an extremely concerning start for Chicago, who now have to wait until Thursday to get back on track in another game. That should give them plenty of practice time to iron things out, but could it also force the front office to think twice about adding another player to the roster?

Chennedy Carter could be the solution to Chicago Sky’s offensive problems

Given the lack of scoring production from everyone outside of Reese and Atkins, fans began wondering where Chennedy Carter is. Carter was the leading scorer for Chicago last season with 17.5 points.

Carter is still a free agent. She hasn’t signed with another team after the Sky decided to let her walk and didn’t offer her a new contract. The team appears to need a scorer, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Carter is back in the fold sooner than later.

Carter is only 26 years old, but has run into trouble at various WNBA team stops throughout her career. That has led to her availability as the season is underway. She ended up signing with a team in Mexico, but if Chicago comes calling again, she likely won’t hesitate to make it a reunion.
