Angel Reese once again proved why she belongs among basketball’s elite, delivering a commanding 20-point, 20-rebound performance in Unrivaled for Rose BC‘s 72-63 victory over the Lunar Owls and the 22-year-old made sure her haters heard a resounding message.

The moment the final buzzer echoed through the Florida arena, the WNBA icon took to social media to make her stance clear by send a message to those who have doubted her along the way, with her team climbing to third place in the standings in the process.

“No. Tell them stay on that side. Please,” Reese posted on X.com, formerly Twitter, shortly after the final buzzer as the Rose BC took their fourth victory in a row.

Her words were a direct response to critics who questioned her ability to dominate at the professional level by reacting to a fan’s praise, which emphasized that she is “exactly who she thinks she is” and urged skeptics not to be “on the wrong side of history” when looking back on her career.

Reese praises team spirit

Reese showcased her signature grit throughout the game, making key plays down the stretch to overshadow an impressive showing from Napheesa Collier, who finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks. However, Reese wasn’t carrying the load alone.

Chelsea Gray was instrumental in the win, pouring in 26 points while dishing out five assists, further solidifying the Rose‘s dominance.

Adding to the significance of this victory was the fact that the Lunar Owls entered the game undefeated, riding an eight-game winning streak. Despite their first setback of the competition, they still maintain a comfortable three-game lead over Laces BC, who currently sit in second place.

“I think everybody just came out with an extra oomph tonight,” Reese said of her colleagues. “Like we knew that they were 8-0 and like we, it was nobody that believed in us outside of that locker room but us. And that’s all that matters.

“And Nola [Henry] really emphasizes on it takes every petal to make the rose. And tonight, every single possession, every single bucket, basket, stop, rebound, steal, missed layup too. It contributed like just being able to be together at the right time. It’s just perfect.”
