Chicago Sky failed to beat Washington Mystics and suffered their sixth consecutive defeat.

CareFirst Arena witnessed Angel Reese and her team fall 103-86 in a game that was not the best welcome for the Sky forward.

After missing two games due to a back injury, a loss was not the ending she had imagined. And although she fought to change it, she was unable to do so.

However, her performance did not go unnoticed, with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds, Angel was the team’s top scorer. She also added three assists, three steals, and two blocks in 32 minutes of play.

There is no doubt that Reese picked up right where she left off before her injury, as she remains the only player in the league to record multiple streaks of at least 10 consecutive double-doubles. Even more surprising is that she is on track to break her own all-time record of 15 consecutive double-doubles.

Despite the efforts of the two-time All-Star, Sonia Citron‘s 28 points, Kiki Iriafen‘s 22 points, and Brittney Sykes‘ 18 points made the difference, and Tyler Marsh‘s team ultimately lost the battle.

Reese’s words

Needless to say, the Sky star did not have her dream comeback, and after the game, she did not sugarcoat the situation when she spoke to the press.

Just trying to fight through contact as much as I can. It was ugly, very ugly for me. I do as much as I can for my teammate because I know they need me out there,” she said, via Sky beat reporter Karli Bell on X.

The truth is that Chicago did not start this season as planned and now, with a record of 7-19, it is second to last in the league. Behind it is only the Connecticut Sun, which has achieved 4 wins and 21 losses.

Now, Reese and the Sky must prepare to host and face the Golden State Valkyries (12-13) next Friday, August 1.
