Angel Reese is set to make an emotional return to Louisiana State University on May 2 when the Chicago Sky takes on the Brazilian National Team in a preseason exhibition at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. This will be Reese’s first time back on the LSU court since her record-breaking college career that helped define LSU’s dominance in women’s basketball.

“It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me,” Reese shared. “LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA, and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans.”

A triumphant homecoming for Reese

Reese’s impact at LSU is nothing short of historic. She led the Tigers to a national championship in 2023, averaging an impressive 23 points and 15.4 rebounds per game. That season, she shattered records with 34 double-doubles-the most in NCAA history-and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament. Reese also holds the second-most double-doubles in LSU history (61) and scored the third-highest single-season point total (829 in 2023).

LSU head coach Kim Mulkey expressed her excitement about Reese’s return, stating, “Angel played a major role in establishing our program at LSU, and I know our fans are going to be thrilled to have her back. She had such an incredible rookie season, and we can’t wait to see her continue to thrive in the WNBA.”

Kamilla Cardoso faces Brazil for the first time

The game also marks a significant milestone for Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso, who will face her home country’s national team for the first time. Cardoso represented Brazil in the 2024 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, where she averaged 15.3 points and 11 rebounds per game. She also helped Brazil secure gold at the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup and the 2022 South American Women’s Championship.

“I am so excited to play against my former Brazilian national team,” Cardoso said. “Brazil has played such an important role in my life and has shaped who I am today. This game is a special opportunity to reconnect with my roots and compete in front of old friends and teammates.”

Fans can expect an electrifying atmosphere as Baton Rouge welcomes back two basketball stars for a game filled with nostalgia, pride, and fierce competition.
