Angel Reese is preparing to light up the Met Gala red carpet once again, and this year, she’s doing so with an even bigger role.
The Chicago Sky forward has been named to the 2025 Met Gala Host Committee, joining a lineup of standout athletes and entertainers including Simone Biles, Jonathan Owens, and Sha’Carri Richardson.
For the 2025 edition of the annual Costume Institute Benefit, the event will center on the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, inspired by an exhibition that explores the history and influence of Black dandyism. Among this year’s co-chairs are Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, and A$AP Rocky, while LeBron James serves as honorary chair.
As one of the most recognizable faces in women’s basketball – and arguably the sport’s most prominent fashion-forward figure – Angel Reese is once again bridging the gap between sport and style. After pulling off a red carpet appearance at the 2024 Met Gala followed by a WNBA preseason game the next day, Reese is set to elevate her impact on the fashion world in 2025.
Reese drops subtle designer hint ahead of Met Gala
Although most Met Gala attendees keep their designers under wraps until the big reveal, Reese gave her fans a not-so-cryptic clue during a video she shared before the Sky’s preseason game last week.
“I’m dressed because the Met Gala is on Monday. This is the designer I’m wearing,” she said. “I’m not going to say the name of the designer, but if you know your fashion, if you’re a fashion girlie, just check the details. You know what I’m wearing.”
For the more fashion-savvy followers, it didn’t take long to identify the label. Reese was seen wearing a tailored look from Thom Browne, a designer known for reimagining traditional American tailoring with a quirky, high-fashion twist.
Her game-day outfit featured a $2,090 School Uniform 4-Bar Classic Sport Coat and a $1,566 4-Bar Striped Pleated Mini Skirt, both instantly recognizable to those familiar with the designer’s signature style.
To complete the ensemble, she added a touch of luxury with a $4,900 Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandoulière 50 Monogram Shadow Black bag – a classic flex from an athlete known to bring the heat in every setting, from the paint to the runway.
Given the Thom Browne teaser, it’s likely her official Met Gala look will push the envelope even further. Known for theatrical interpretations of classic silhouettes, Browne is a fitting choice for a night themed around redefined elegance and cultural expression.
