Chicago Sky suffered its fourth consecutive loss to Seattle Storm, 79-69, at Climate Pledge Arena.
Despite another loss for the team, Angel Reese had a dream night and rewrote her name in franchise history with her performance.
The Sky star, brighter than ever
During the game, the 23-year-old forward achieved a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. In addition, she added two assists, two steals, and one block in 32 minutes of action to complete her performance.
After recovering from her back injury, she has shown that her level remains intact, as she has even improved her numbers and averages 14.4 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
However, it was her performance against Seattle that led her to be highlighted by the WNBA, after achieving her tenth game in her career with more than 20 points and 10 rebounds. “Another milestone for Angel Reese!” wrote the league’s official website alongside a photo and her new achievement, which comes just in her second year of her professional career.
And that’s not all. They also explained that the two-time All-Star joined Sylvia Fowles, Candice Dupree, and Elena Delle Donne as the only players in Sky history to reach double-digit 20/10 games.
Despite this new milestone in Reese’s career, the team is moving in the opposite direction. After this defeat, their ninth in ten games, their record fell to 9-30. They remain in 12th place in the WNBA standings, just ahead of the Dallas Wings, with 9-31.
Unfortunately for Angel and Sky, the thought of making the playoffs is something they have already ruled out. With only five games remaining, all that’s left is to play for pride and love of the team.
Now, they will face the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, September 3, at home, travel to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take on the Indiana Fever on Friday, September 5. Then they will have two games against Las Vegas Aces on September 7 and 9. Finally, they close at home against the New York Liberty on Thursday, September 11, at Wintrust Arena.
