The Reese family has plenty to celebrate this week, and Angel Reese wasn’t about to let the moment pass quietly. As her younger brother Julian embarks on his professional basketball journey with the Los Angeles Lakers, the Chicago Sky forward took to social media to recognize another major moment: his birthday.

Julian and Angel share a uniquely spirited relationship. Their childhood was shaped by intense one-on-one driveway battles where neither tolerated losing. But those early rivalries have since evolved into genuine support and mutual pride.

On Friday, Angel made it clear that the fierce competition of their youth has blossomed into sibling love. She publicly congratulated Julian on signing with the Lakers as an undrafted free agent-and celebrated his birthday in her signature style.

Angel’s heartfelt shoutout

The Sky star posted a video to her Instagram Stories featuring her and Julian dancing to Surf Curse’s viral track “Disco.” True to her confident and carefree persona, the clip radiated joy, but it was the caption that tugged at hearts.

“Happy birthday to my twinflameeee! Rockin’ & rolling with you no matter what! @shifty_ju,” she wrote.

The message was loud and clear: no matter where Julian’s path leads, he’ll always have a cheerleader in his corner.

What’s ahead for Julian Reese

Julian signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Lakers on July 27. These one-year, non-guaranteed deals offer the chance to secure a two-way contract before the season begins, giving players a shot at proving themselves during the Summer League.

But the road ahead won’t be easy. This year’s Summer League is packed with rising stars like Eric Dixon, RJ Davis, and Arthur Kaluma-not to mention top draft pick Cooper Flagg. Adding to the challenge is the anticipated return of a more seasoned Bronny James, hoping to carve out his place in the Lakers lineup.

If Julian hopes to mirror his sister’s meteoric rise in the WNBA, he’ll need grit, resilience, and every ounce of that Reese family fire.
