Chicago Sky is having a season to forget, after suffering its second consecutive defeat in the game against Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Their rivals won 92-70, bringing the team’s record to 8-23 and marking their tenth loss in 11 games.

To make matters worse, star player Angel Reese remains sidelined due to a persistent back injury. This has kept the forward off the court for seven of the nine games since she returned to action on July 22.

With only 13 games remaining, her return would be a big help to the team, as the absence of her 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game is being felt. Without Reese, Chicago has only managed one win in the seven games she has missed.

However, her return is not confirmed. Sky coach Tyler Marsh has listed her as a player who will be evaluated “day by day” to see if she can play, but it remains unknown.

Angel’s message

Ahead of Chicago’s next game against the Connecticut Sun (5-24) on Wednesday at Mohegan Sun Arena, Reese shared a message that echoes her coach’s words.

On her official X account, she addressed her 705,700 followers, perhaps shedding light on her possible return: “In due time,” she wrote.

Fans were quick to respond, leaving messages of support for the Sky icon:

We need you back but please heal fully first,” wrote one follower.

We miss you. Healing prayers for your mental and physical health. Take your time and only come back when you are ready,” another user said.

I miss seeing you play. But don’t rush back. Put yourself first!” commented a third.

Unfortunately, during the team’s training sessions this week, Reese has not been actively participating. In fact, she was seen only watching practice on Monday, which dampens her fans’ hopes of seeing her play again soon.
