Brittney Griner recently caught the attention of Atlanta Dream (17-11) fans after missing the previous game against her former team, the Phoenix Mercury, due to a neck injury.
This problem has ruled the 34-year-old center out of the game against the Washington Mystics (13-14) on Sunday, August 3. However, a new project is putting a smile back on her face.
Griner leaves the court but not TV
The WNBA has announced that the 10-time All-Star, her wife Cherelle, and their son Bash will make a special appearance in an exclusive episode of “Pride Is Love.”
The league announced this on its official Instagram account: “This is a story about love, strength, and family,” they wrote. “Step into Brittney & Cherelle Griner’s world in the full episode of Pride Is Love presented by @Coach, also available now on the WNBA App“.
Of course, fans were quick to show their support for the Dream center and her family: “I will always stop for Bash content!” said one follower, “One of the best posts we’ve seen in a while,” said another enthusiastically, “My favorite celebrity couple,” said a third.
However, among the comments, one in particular caught everyone’s attention. Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky star, not only left two comments, but also made a request to Griner and her wife.
“Loveeee thisss,” she commented first with an excited emoji and another with heart eyes. However, her request was in the second comment: “but where that camera from cause i needdddsss,” Reese wrote.
The truth is that the two stars are going through a rough patch with their team, as both are injured. However, Griner has averaged 10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game in her first season with the Atlanta Dream after spending eleven seasons with the Phoenix Mercury.
Meanwhile, Reese had returned for the game against the Washington Mystics after missing two games with the Sky due to a persistent back injury, but she was again sidelined against the Golden State Valkyries and it has not been revealed when she will return to the court. She averages 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
Now, as the Dream prepares to face the Washington Mystics at Gateway Center Arena, the Chicago Sky will need to get better results in their next game against the Phoenix Mercury (16-11) at Wintrust Arena if they want to break their losing streak.
