Angel Reese’s relationship with her father Michael isn’t the greatest, and that was made apparent during a recent interview with Vogue.

The Chicago Sky star talked about the role that fashion and basketball have had on her life. When it comes to the court, Reese has continued to excel on her journey from Maryland to LSU before showcasing her talents in the WNBA.

Reese noted that basketball has always been a big part of her life because of her mother and grandmother.

“It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,” Reese said. “Basketball runs in the family, she explains; both her mother and grandmother played. And when she was growing up in Baltimore, the sport was just around.”

Her comments failed to include her father Michael, a well-known college player back in the day. While not much is known about him, he did play at Boston University and later Loyola Maryland University.

Michael is a terrifically talented basketball player, but there is something that has stopped him from reaching his potential,” Paul McCullen wrote in a January 1992 issue of The Baltimore Sun, which was updated on Oct. 24, 2018.

Reese grew up in northeast Washington, within site of RFK Stadium. He starred at H. D. Woodson High and went to Maine Central Institute in 1988-89 when he didn’t meet the NCAA’s standards for freshman eligibility.”

Angel is close with her mom

The fact Angel failed to mention her father highlights that the two don’t have a close relationship.

That can’t be said about Angel’s relationship with her mom, as she previously stated: “Most of my family plays basketball, so I kind of had to play,” adding that she used to go and watch her mom play.

“I used to go to my mom’s games when I was younger. She used to play in a little league, and I used to always go watch her games on Sundays. That was something that was always inspiring to me,” Reese said.

“She’s always been independent and she molded that into me. I am who I am because of her.”
