Angel Reese continues to cause a heated debate about how much does she wants to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
Through seven games of the 2025 regular season, the former LSU Tiger is averaging 28.7 minutes with 9.1 points, 12.3 rebounds (6.7 defensive and 5.6 offensive), as well as 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.3 blocks with 3.7 turnovers.
Reese’s team, Chicago Sky, is 11th overall in the WNBA standings, with an awful 2-5 record. The franchise continues to struggle during the 2025 regular season, with the former college star unable to find consistent success in the scoring realm, even though she has established herself as one of the best rebounders in the WNBA.
Angel Reese gets blasted by fans
Chicago Sky‘s latest loss came at the hands of the Indiana Fever 79-52, with Angel Reese playing one of the worst games of her career. She had nearly as many turnovers (3) as points (4). The Maryland native shot 2-for-7 from the field with 12 rebounds. Four of Angel’s seven missed shots were layups with two of them being blocked by defenders.
Before the game, Reese shared with her 5.6 million followers the outfit she was wearing. “We’re in Chicago, it’s only right that I had to pop it,” said the basketball player, in reference to her high-gloss black leather trench coat, paired with stiletto boots and a fur hat.
Some fans viewed the video as a concern: they believe that Angel is more worried about her looks than how she performs in the basketball court, especially after her team got beat by a rival that didn’t even have one of her best players – Caitlin Clark, who was out with an injury -. “She had only 4 more points than me and I didn’t even know there was a game,” an X user commented. “That’s all she got,” added another person.
Angel’s coach talks about Reese’s game
After the loss to the Indiana Fever, Chicago Sky’s head coach Tyler Marsh was asked about Angel Reeese’s bad performance, to which the leader said that he didn’t believed that his player struggled to make an impact against the rival.
“I don’t think Angel struggled tonight, I think we struggled as a team. It’s not about Angel being better for us, it’s us being better for Angel.” Compounding their early-season struggles, the Sky announced the season-ending injury of their starting point guard, Courtney Vandersloot, who sustained a torn ACL during the ill-fated game against the Fever.
Vandersloot, a cornerstone of Chicago’s offense, had been averaging a robust 12.0 points and 6.2 assists per contest in her six appearances prior to the injury. Her absence leaves a gaping hole in the team’s playmaking and veteran leadership.
