Angel Reese may be dominating the paint this season, but on Thursday night, she decided to take her talents to Twitter – and that’s where things got really spicy.
Fresh off becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to notch 30 career double-doubles (just 42 games, mind you!), the Chicago Sky sophomore sensation found herself in a full-on (lighthearted) squabble with former teammate and Sky legend, Kahleah Copper.
It all started when Reese dug up a nearly week-old tweet from Copper – now with the Phoenix Mercury – in which Copper teased Reese by name-dropping Kalani Brown. Reese wasn’t letting that one slide.
She quote-tweeted the post with the kind of sass that’s made her a fan favorite:
“You been acting real shady since Unrivaled too. You didn’t even want to speak in Phoenix and had to FaceTime me after.”
Cooper is not one to back down
Copper, who clearly wasn’t about to back down, hit back with a laugh:
“Lol you actually replied smartasssss!! And don’t even start making up stuff on the net I’m not playing wit youuuuuu.”
Reese, staying firmly in her petty bag, clapped back with:
“STILL OFF YOU.”
If this sounds like a Twitter feud spiraling out of control – don’t worry. It’s just peak Gen Z banter between two friends. Copper gave it one more jab, joking,
“Just miss me.. I’ll be in Chicago soon,”
to which Reese fired off the now-iconic line:
“Nah, can we meet outside of the workplace? Damn.”
It will be a while before we see Cooper vs. Reese
While fans would love to see this playful beef continue courtside, it’s unclear if Copper will actually suit up for the June 21 Sky vs. Mercury showdown. The 2021 WNBA Finals MVP recently underwent knee surgery and was handed a 4-to-6 week recovery timeline. She’s yet to make her debut with the Mercury this season.
As for Reese, her dominance continues even if the Sky took an L this week against the undefeated New York Liberty, who handed Chicago an 85-66 loss at Barclays Center.
With stats like hers and drama like this, Angel Reese isn’t just making headlines – she is the headline.
