Chicago Sky power forward in the WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association), Angel Reese, took the time to post a story on social media to congratulate Coco Gauff after winning the French Open. The player did so despite losing to the Indiana Fever.
The Chicago Sky saw their two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 79-52 loss to Indiana. Chicago now has a 2-5 record entering the 2025 WNBA season and an 0-1 record in the Commissioner’s Cup.
“THE QUEEN,” wrote Angel Reese with a picture of Gauff
For context, last Saturday, 21-year-old American tennis player Coco Gauff, currently ranked No. 2 in the world, won her first Roland Garros and second Grand Slam title. She defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to win the title in Paris, France.
Despite Chicago’s tough loss on Saturday, Reese took the time to send a brief message to Gauff after their important victory. The player used her official Instagram account to post the image, write the brief message, and then upload it to her story.
When will the Chicago Sky play in the WNBA again?
The Chicago Sky will play their next game on Tuesday against the New York Liberty (8-0). This will give them the opportunity to defeat the defending WNBA champions and avenge their 99-74 loss from earlier in the season. Tuesday’s game will be played at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST.
Angel Reese, who was selected to the WNBA All-Star Game as a rookie in 2024, contributed just four points in the loss, along with 12 rebounds and two assists. Her 2-for-7 shooting from the field dropped her field goal percentage to just 31.1% on the season.
