Who hasn’t had a love/hate relationship with a TV series? As Game of Thrones fans can attest, you can invest years binge-watching your favorite show, only to be left heartbroken by the finale-just like Angel Reese is now.
The Chicago Sky star isn’t exactly known for her pop culture takes. And really, who could blame her? Between her WNBA career, her work with Unrivaled, her YouTube podcast, and everything else off the court, it’s no surprise she barely has time for television.
But Reese recently revealed her fangirl side-and she’s not holding back. After watching Netflix’s new hit The Hunting Wives, a Big Little Lies-style drama starring Brittany Snow, she dropped a fiery review and a desperate plea to the show’s creators.
Reese is not okay with that ending
The star-studded Netflix series follows Snow’s Sophie O’Neil, a woman who moves from Boston to the fictional East Texas town of Maple Brooks, only to get tangled in a seductive world of privilege, secrets, and the murder of a teenage girl.
Season 1 ended with a major cliffhanger-and Reese wasn’t having it. The moment the final credits rolled, the Sky star jumped on X (formerly Twitter) to call out the show’s producers:
“Sooooo, will there be a season 2 or more episodes for The Hunting Wives? Because I’m not satisfied with how that ended…”
Fans join Reese’s outcry
As always, Reese’s voice echoes louder than most-and this time, she’s not alone. Fans are swarming the show’s Instagram profile, begging for answers:
“Please renew!”
“SEASONNNN 2!”
“If we don’t get a season 2, I’m calling the cops. Bye.”
So far, Netflix and the showrunners are keeping tight-lipped, but with the buzz Reese and other fans are generating, it’s hard to imagine the streaming giant turning a blind eye. If The Hunting Wives has been even half as successful as it seems, a renewal might just be a matter of time.
