Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd have confirmed what fans long suspected: their deep friendship has blossomed into a romantic partnership.

The confirmation came during the WNBA All-Star weekend in July 2025, when Bueckers took part in a light-hearted Q&A with WAG Talk and, when prompted, confidently answered “Azzi Fudd” as her girlfriend.

Rumors had circulated for months. In June, Fudd teased more than friendship when she shared a mirror selfie on Instagram Stories holding a phone that read “Paige Bueckers‘ Girlfriend,” sparking a wave of speculation.

Social media users noticed the two wearing matching “A” and “P” necklaces, walking into Wings games handinhand, and tagging each other with affectionate emojis, solidifying impressions that their support was more than platonic.

Their connection began well before UConn. The pair first crossed paths as elite high school recruits and teammates on USA Basketball’s under16 and under17 teams in 2017 and 2018.

Bueckers, arriving at Storrs in 2020, was pivotal in recruiting Fudd to join her the following year. Together, they powered UConn’s backcourt and helped bring home the 2025 NCAA National Championship.

In the spotlight midseason, Fudd earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the 2025 Final Four, scoring 24 points to secure UConn’s victory, after returning from a torn ACL and meniscus sustained in late 2023.

Meanwhile, Bueckers wrapped an illustrious college career by earning national player of the year awards and then becoming the first overall pick by the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

Midway through their public story, it became clear that their relationship is rooted not only in shared victories but also mutual respect and affection:

A friendship that turned romantic

Their journey began with court camaraderie that spilled into life off the hardwood. Fudd, from a basketballdriven family, had looked up to Bueckers long before joining UConn, while Bueckers helped recruit Fudd and clearly cherished her presence.

Bueckers remained devoted to supporting Fudd through her comeback, praising her podcast launch, Fudd Around And Find Out:

“I’m expecting her podcast to be great, I’m excited that she gets to have that platform to talk a little bit more about who she is on and off the court… I’m happy for her.”

In June, when Fudd shared that iconic phonecase selfie reading “Paige Bueckers‘ Girlfriend,” it felt like an affectionate reveal timed perfectly with Pride Month, giving fans a glimpse into something deeper.

By drafting Bueckers in 2025, the pair’s paths diverged professionally. Bueckers ventured into the WNBA, and Fudd stayed at UConn for another collegiate season.

Yet their bond remained unbroken; Fudd was a visible fixture at Bueckers‘s draft night, the duo walked the orange carpet together at the All-Star event, and were photographed holding hands at Wings games
