Last Saturday, January 10, it was reported through several official media that Alex Bregman, one of the best free agents on the market, was no longer a free agent for $175 million and five seasons with no-trade option, signing for the Chicago Cubs.
Alex Bregman’s decision to walk away from the Boston Red Sox was not an easy one for the player, according to certain sports media outlets. After a season in Boston where he hit .273 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs, Bregman opted to rescind the last two years of his contract. Upon his arrival with the Chicago Cubs, Bregman not only changes teams, but also his number, as after wearing number 2 throughout his major league career he will now wear number 3 on his jersey, symbolizing a new chapter in his career after his time with the Boston Red Sox and his wonderful career with the Houston Astros.
