Carlos Alcaraz trained for the first time on Sunday at the Monte Carlo Country Club alongside Novak Djokovic and then spoke to the media with his characteristic sincerity.
The Spaniard spoke of the many comments he received about the option of being ATP number one after Jannik Sinner’s three-month suspension in February for testing positive for clostebol at Indian Wells 2024
Carlitos comments on this, as reported by ‘The Independent’, that “many people tell me about the options of being number 1 when Sinner is not playing and that pressure, probably, has killed me in some way. The only thing I’m thinking about is that I have no chance of going back to the top spot on the clay tour“
The tennis player from El Palmar is currently 3,610 points behind Sinner in the ATP ranking: “I’m too far away from him. The only thing I want is to play. That’s the goal.”
