New Orleans police have arrested a woman identified as Danette Colbert as a result of the investigation into the death of Telemundo journalist Adan Manzano, who was found lifeless on the afternoon of Thursday, February 6 in his hotel room where he was staying to cover the upcoming Super Bowl LIX.

Suspect arrested in Adan Manzano case

According to Telemundo, detectives on the case gained access to footage from a security camera where they were able to identify Colbert with Manzano on the morning of February 5, a day before the death of the reporter from local TV station KGKC Telemundo Kansas City.

In addition, authorities mention that in the same video, Colbert can be seen leaving Manzano’s hotel room later that same day, with police arresting her after she allegedly repeatedly tried to use the journalist’s credit card in the New Orleans shopping area.

However, Colbert is not currently facing charges related to Manzano’s death, although she is facing charges of property crimes, such as fraud and theft. In fact, Telemundo reports that Colbert herself has a criminal history in which she has previously been accused of drugging people, stealing their money and using their cards fraudulently.

What did Adan Manzano die of?

At the moment, the causes of Adan Manzano’s death are unknown, and Telemundo did not give more information about it than the statement in which it also stresses that: “We are cooperating with the authorities as they investigate this tragic event.”

The journalist spent his last years as part of the network’s Kansas City affiliate, Telemundo, and covered the last three Super Bowls, given the expectation generated by the Chiefs in that city.

Although Adam Manzano was born in Mexico City, he worked in Mexico for Sky Sports and graduated from Kansas City State University before joining the Chiefs’ NFL staff.

Last year he suffered the loss of his wife who died in a traffic accident, in the car was Adan Manzano’s daughter who was uninjured and at that time was 15 months old
