After defeating the Seattle Storm and Indiana Fever, the Las Vegas Aces lead the WNBA Finals 2-0 over the Phoenix Mercury.

Ahead of Game 3, the team has another reason to celebrate: the newly named MVP for the fourth time, A’ja Wilson, received another major accolade from the WNBA.

Aces congratulate Wilson on new achievement

The 29-year-old center is finishing this regular season averaging 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.6 steals in 40 games played with the Aces, shooting 50.5% from the field.

Added to her performances during the playoffs, it is not surprising that she received 51 of 72 votes for first place MVP, the fourth of her career.

However, on October 8, the Aces announced that Wilson earned her fourth consecutive WNBA All-Defensive First Team honor. In a post on their official Instagram account, they accompanied a photo of A’ja with the caption:: “Of course the D’POY is on the WNBA All-Defensive First Team.”

Of course, when this news was announced, fans were quick to show their support and congratulate the seven-time All-Star Game player on her new achievement:

“No surprise here!!! A’ja is the BEST player in the world and is just getting better every season… congrats mvp,” wrote one of them. “As it should be,” said another follower. “Well deserved, A’ja,” commented another user.

Meanwhile, A’ja and the Aces are preparing to travel and face the Phoenix Mercury this Wednesday at PHX Arena. If they manage to defeat their rivals, Wilson and her team would be just one win away from the championship, but the home crowd advantage could influence Phoenix and help them clinch their first victory in the Finals.

The game starts at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on ESPN.
