The season Myles Garrett is having with the Cleveland Browns is on another level. He doesn’t deserve to be on such a poor team. Meanwhile, Maxx Crosby’s inner fire isn’t shared by his teammates on the Las Vegas Raiders.
Both players possess immense potential and have left a lasting mark on the field, but their teams fail to match their expectations or talent. They are players who deserve to be on contending teams, at least capable of reaching the postseason.
Rob Gronkowski speaks about Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett
Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Rob Gronkowski appeared as a guest on the Up & Adams podcast. During the episode, host Kay Adams shared her Halloween hot take about Myles Garrett, calling him:
The scariest player in the current NFL.
Almost immediately, the former tight end and Tom Brady’s ex-teammate added:
He loves Halloween. He dresses up as scary. You know as scary costumes and scary characters, movie characters and all that good stuff for Halloween. And he’s also the scariest player on the field. Five sacks last week.
Gronkowski also expressed his frustration over Garrett’s situation with the Browns.
I mean, it sucks him (Myles), and Maxx Crosby to see like never to make the playoffs. Such great players at defensive end. He had five sacks for his, Myles Garrett, five sacks last week, and they still got destroyed by the Patriots. Like he’s the scariest defender though at that defensive end position.
And it’s not hard to understand why. In eight games, Garrett has recorded ten sacks – an outstanding figure for a team struggling so badly, but with such an extraordinary player. In this category, he’s tied with Giants standout Brian Burns.
When asked about Maxx Crosby, Gronkowski praised him as well:
Really good player. Very good. He’s one of those guys; there’s a handful of them in this league. I mean a lot of great players in this league, but as far as just those defensive edge, defensive end, pass rusher guys, he’s just constant nonstop.
The Las Vegas defender has registered four sacks, 18 solo tackles, 10 assists, and one forced interception through the first eight weeks. His relentless style and leadership have stood out, even when the rest of the roster hasn’t lived up to expectations.
Still, Gronkowski’s words highlight a broader truth: both Garrett and Crosby are elite talents stuck on underachieving teams. Their hunger to win and their performances on the field contrast sharply with the mediocrity surrounding them.
For now, uncertainty remains about their futures. Will they be traded or stay with their current franchises? The answer will come soon, but for now, both are proving that greatness without victories can be one of football’s greatest frustrations.
