Aaron Rodgers is one of the most talented and decorated quarterbacks of his generation — and every team needs a strong option at quarterback to win anything in the NFL. But as the calendar prepares to flip to April, Rodgers still finds himself without a team for 2025 as the NFL Draft looms.

Rodgers was released by the New York Jets earlier this month, and the 41-year-old is facing a race against the clock to find a new home for 2025. The Green Bay Packers great certainly is not hurting financially, but amid a frosty reception to his arrival on the free agent market, Rodgers may have to comb through alternatives while he waits for another shot to prove himself.

Rodgers’ broadcasting opportunities are limited

But Rodgers may have a problem breaking in to the #1 career path choice for recently-retired NFL stars. According to Michael McCarthy at Front Office Sports, broadcast networks have said a polite “no thank you” to Rodgers, closing the door that Tom Brady walked through last year with FOX Sports.

“With the 41-year-old Rodgers at a career crossroads, I spoke with sources at multiple NFL media partners, as well as agents, to gauge his prospects. I found surprisingly little interest in one of the league’s all-time great QBs,” McCarthy wrote. “Sources say Rodgers would get nowhere near the rapturous welcome given to QB contemporaries like Tom Brady, who signed a staggering 10-year, $375 million with Fox Sports in 2022.”

Media executives and talent agents are wary of Rodgers, who is a four-time NFL MVP and a one-time Super Bowl champion. For one, there remains uncertainty over when and where he wants to end his NFL career; but his outspoken nature and well-known regard for controversial Health and Human Services chief Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has given networks pause over whether to pursue Rodgers — who has cast doubt on the effectiveness of vaccines and remains fiercely critical over how the United States government handled the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, all signs point to Rodgers returning to the NFL for a 21st season, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants reportedly jostling for his signing. However, Steelers star Cam Heyward recently expressed frustration with Rodgers over the time he is taking to come to a decision…meaning another season in the Big Apple may well be on the cards.
