The New York Yankees can celebrate after a home run by Ryan McMahon in the eleventh inning, an exciting moment that doesn’t inspire much hope among a fanbase that knows and acknowledges the Bronx Bombers have deep-rooted issues that are hard to fix and could ruin their playoff run this season.

When the adrenaline and euphoria from that hit fade, critics remind everyone that to reach the World Series, the team must stop making “silly” excuses and start addressing their problems.

The true reality of the Yankees

Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman hide the team’s flaws, even ignoring them at times. Former MLB executiveDavid Samson relentlessly points out these issues with brutal, negative criticism. “They act like everything is fine,” Samson said, “but it’s not.”

Samson has stated that Anthony Volpe is far from “good” and that Aaron Boone continues to downplay his mistakes, which also stem from Austin Wells, who forgot the out count while running the bases. The truth is, a team like the Yankees cannot afford these lapses.

There’s a narrative that the team’s executives and manager try to mask their accumulated errors with the team’s achievements, errors that could push them further from the American League East race.

Yankees fans are panicking

As criticism of the Yankees‘ management continues to mount, the tension doesn’t let up. The Toronto Blue Jays lead the division and are making moves that send a clear message: they’re serious this year.

While the Yankees struggle through an unfavorable 22-28 stretch, the Canadian team just signed former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber from the Cleveland Guardians. And, as if that weren’t enough, according to Ken Rosenthal, Toronto is reportedly in the race for outfielder Steven Kwan from the same team, likely the best player at his position available at this trade deadline.

This is more than bad news for Aaron Boone, who hopes to stay in the fight during the second half of the season with a fanbase full of expectations but performances that offer little encouragement.
