The 33-year-old boxer claimed he acted out of fear and confessed that he suffers from panic attacks and believed he was in danger.

“I didn’t feel well even before I came to Turkey. I thought I was being kidnapped. That’s why I attacked,” Ross Kitchen told the court.

The prosecution accused the boxer of “intentional aggravated assault causing bone fractures with a monstrous feeling” and “aggravated robbery”, leaving taxi driver Kadir Bicer (56) fighting for his life.

The incident took place in Eyupsultan on April 14, after Bicer picked Kitchen up from Istanbul Airport to travel to the city.
