Two years shy of 60, the great Mike Tyson, the fighter who terrorised his opponents in both waking and sleeping, will step into the ring tonight in Arlington for a presumed bout against what could be his youngest son, youtuber Jake Paul. Although the fight is supervised by the Texas Commission, we don’t know for sure if the showdown will have required the help of a choreographer rather than a trainer.

The contest is unique, because against a Tyson 20 years younger, Jake Paul would have been knocked out before the first bell stopped ringing, but at 58 and against a fighter who will not be a world champion but who is proving his remarkable ability, there is likely to be a stage manager on hand to prevent accidents.
The 14-ounce gloves they will wear, forty percent softer than usual, and a fight length of 16 minutes, suggest it will be more of an exhibition fight than anything else. But Tyson, who has faced the most ruthless fighters on the planet, cares little about the fight, when he also checks the ATM to see that there is a new $20 million in his account.
