One of the biggest stories of the NFL offseason is undoubtedly the future of San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy, who is close to becoming a new millionaire in the league.
The team, led by Kyle Shanahan, is undergoing a significant restructuring, letting go of several key players who could influence the new contract for the quarterback from Iowa State.
In recent days, the 49ers have lost defensive leaders like LB Dre Greenlaw and S Talanoa Hufanga, who signed with the Denver Broncos, as well as CB Charvarius Ward, who signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
The 49ers’ offense has also seen significant losses.
On the offensive side, San Francisco was also impacted by the trade of WR Deebo Samuel to the Commanders and the release of FBKyle Juszczyk by the Bay Area team.
Purdy, who was selected late in the 2022 draft, is seeking a new contract, and according to different reports, the team is offering $45 million, but Purdy’s agents are asking for a $50 million annual extension.
Despite Purdy’s challenging 2024 season, the quarterback is expected to be in the financial range of contracts similar to those of Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, among others.
