Why Cam Ward sitting out second half of Pop-Tarts Bowl is not a big deal
Hurricanes’ quarterback Cam Ward moved to +100 from +105 over the last week and from +750 since the end of November.
Ironically, critics questioned whether Ward’s draft stock would take a hit after his team’s 42-41 loss to Iowa State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl since he sat out the second half of the matchup.
Instead, bettors saw Ward’s stock improve.
In his most recent mock draft, Jason McIntyre predicts Ward will be selected first by Tennessee.
“I expect the Titans to be much improved with him under center next season,” McIntyre wrote.
Should Russell Wilson join forces with Pete Carroll again and play for the Las Vegas Raiders?
Second on this board is Travis Hunter, whose odds surged to +220 from +1000 over the last two weeks.
McIntyre has Hunter going fifth to the Jaguars.
“This rotten secondary could get a big-time playmaker [in Hunter], who probably flashes a few times on offense, too,” he noted. “Might even overtake Trevor Lawrence as the team’s most popular player in a year.”
One of the biggest shifts over the last week was Penn State’s Abdul Carter moving up the board to +240 from +950.
However, Rob Rang has Carter going seventh to the Jets in April’s draft.
“After back-to-back seasons of disappointment, Jets fans need some solace,” Rang noted. “It could come in the 2025 draft if it falls this way with Carter — the most explosive edge rusher in the class.”

Fourth on the board is Sanders, who moved to +800 from +360.
This season, he passed for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns. In the Buffs’ 36-14 loss to BYU in the Alamo Bowl, the QB threw for 208 yards and two TDs, with two interceptions.
At the end of April, he opened as the favorite in this spot.
